What a non-club date night actually is

A lot of Orlando "date night" lists send you to a nightclub, a cover-charge room, or a hotel lobby. This page is for the other job: two people (or a small group) who want to talk, taste something, and park without a garage hunt.

Pour Choice Taphouse is a self-pour tap room, not a club. There is no cover charge. You check in at the front bar, show a valid photo ID, open a tab with a card, and wear an RFID wristband. Pour a two-ounce taste or a full glass and pay by the ounce. If craft beer is not the date, the full liquor bar pours cocktails, wine, and spirits in the same room.

Thursday is the night our staff already describe as the conversational sweet spot. Wednesday is quieter. Friday 5 to 7 PM is the social rush. Sunday afternoon is slower. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Mills 50 first, then Ivanhoe

The best non-club date corridor in this part of Orlando is the stretch from Mills 50 into Ivanhoe Village. Mills 50 sits on N Mills Ave. Ivanhoe Village sits just west, along the Orange Ave side near Lake Ivanhoe. Pour Choice is on N Mills Ave, so a date that starts here is already next to Ivanhoe, not across town.

This site already describes the trip from Ivanhoe Village, downtown, and Lake Eola as about 5 minutes. We will not invent a mile figure. If you are walking, stay on Mills Ave and the connecting streets toward Orange Ave. If you are driving, use the on-site lot at 1225 N Mills Ave.

For the neighborhood map, read the Ivanhoe Village bars guide and the Mills 50 District guide.

Neighbors we will name honestly

Pour Choice is not the only adult room on this corridor. We will only name neighbors already published on this site.

  • Tori Tori is the seated Japanese-pub option on the Mills 50 side: charcoal skewers and classic cocktails. Better if you want a slower, table-service night than a tap wall. Named on our Mills Ave bars page.
  • Pop Thai is next door at 1227 N Mills Ave. Hawkers, Pigzza, Black Rooster Taqueria, and Jay Lucy's are a short walk on Mills Ave. Order, walk it over, and eat at Pour Choice. There is no corkage on food. Addresses and order links live on /food/.
  • If the date starts downtown at Lake Eola, Eola Wine Company, B Nice Patio Bar, Osphere, The Outpost, and Aku Aku are the lake-adjacent rooms already named in our Lake Eola bars guide. Those rooms are strong for two to eight people. They get tight for a larger group, and parking is a garage problem.
  • Ivanhoe Village, as we already describe it, is antique shops, wine bars, cocktail rooms, and patio restaurants along Orange Ave. We are not inventing a named list of Ivanhoe bars we have not published elsewhere.

A simple date: eat at a Mills 50 neighbor, then pour at Pour Choice. Or pour first during happy hour Wednesday through Friday, 5 to 7 PM, then walk for food.

How to run the night at Pour Choice

Arrive close to 5 PM on Wednesday or Thursday if you want the calmest wall and the easiest parking. Show ID. Open a tab. Taste two ounces of something new before you commit to a full pour. That is the point of pay-by-the-ounce: you do not have to lock into a pint of a style you might not like.

If one person drinks beer and the other wants a cocktail, stay in the same room. The 50 taps include craft beer, hard seltzer, cider, and cocktails on tap. The full liquor bar covers classic pours. Live taps are on the homepage menu.

We do not have a kitchen. Bring food or order delivery to 1225 N Mills Ave. Groups of 20 or more should inquire so we can hold space. A two-person date does not need a reservation.
